Anaheim’s Three Stars
Who to Watch: Anaheim Ducks
Tonight’s game; 11/19, 8pm EST

One great tradition in hockey is the end of the game three starts. It’s a nice end to the game, and as far as I can remember, this hockey tradition always brought a smile to my face. So I thought that leading into a game each week, I’d offer you my three stars on one particular team. I’ll try to hit as many teams as I can as they head into their games for the week, and we’ll see if I can’t get through them all by the end of the season. Let’s start in alphabetical order, with the best option picks for those Ducks of Anaheim.

C. Rickard Rakell

This year my pick for the first star on the Ducks is Rickard Rakell. Off to great year, Rakell is the stand out in Anaheim. In just 17 games, Rickard has already managed to put up 6 goals and 8 assists. When you people talking about putting in the word, someone like Rakell should come to mind. If you are looking for a Center this week that is just going to get better as the year goes on, I think the Swedish native is the way to go.

LW Andrew Cogliano

Every team has that one veteran that always seems to contribute; Anaheim is no different. Andrew Cogliano has always been on my radar as one of the grittiest players in the NHL. His grinder style of play is a dying art in the league. But Cogliano shows there is still room for the old school. Though not great in the goal department, Cogliano is fitting his role-player assignment perfectly with 8 assists and 11 points. Every team needs a gritty vet and if your HypSports lineup doesn’t have one, go with my second star!

G. Ryan Miller

Though his superstar status has subsided throughout the year, Ryan Miller has proven his worth in the National Hockey League. My third star for the Ducks has proven he still has some gas in the tank. 2-0-2 this season might not be the most impressive stat, but stay with me. Ryan Miller has a great GAA at 1.88. Now I know he isn’t John Gibson, but Miller is still a great alternative for both the Ducks and your HypSports team. Though he might be on the shelf with a recent injury, he will be back soon and will be in form. If you can get him on your roster, pick him up! You won’t regret it!
